According to Sousa's research, if you primarily TELL people what a passage is about, they will remember about 5% of what you say by the next day. However:
If they can put some of this into practice as soon as possible, or tell others about it from outside the group, they will remember 90% of the content of the evening.
So our role as teachers is to so craft and ask our questions that some (or maybe even all!) of the members in our group are led to verbalize "profound insights".
And it is even better if we can encourage our members to teach somebody else what they learned this evening, or otherwise make immediate use of what God taught them from the passage.
